Τὸν ἕβδομον τῆς ἐκκλησιαστικῆς ἱστορίας ὁ μέγας ἡμῖν Ἀλεξανδρέων ἐπίακοπος Διονύσιος ἰδίαις φωναῖς συνεκπονήσει, τῶν καθ’ πεπραγμένων ἕκαστα ἐν μέρει δι’ ὧν καταλέλοιπεν ἐπιστολῶν ὑφηγούμενος· ἐμοὶ δ’ ὁ λόγος ἐντεῦθεν ποιήσεται τὴν ἀρχήν.
In the composition of the seventh book of Ecclesiastical History Dionysius, the great bishop of the Alexandrians, will again assist us in our task by his own words, indicating in turn each of the things that were done in his day, by means of the letters he has left behind. From that point my account will take its beginning.
